Tribal communities have been indispensable forces in the maintenance of ecosystems across the world. For centuries, tribal communities have helped preserve natural habitats and promote conservation through sustainable practices in farming, fishing, and cohabiting spaces with wildlife. Their rituals and beliefs further contribute to environmental protection.
We celebrated International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples on 9 August to raise awareness and protect the rights of the world's indigenous population. We also highlighted indigenous people's achievements and contributions to improving world issues such as environmental protection.
Our learners explored different lifestyles and cultures. They enjoyed different hands-on activities and wore accessories like tribal headgear, neckpieces, and face masks. They marched and danced to the tribal tunes and enjoyed pretending to be one of them, to learn the value of living in mutual harmony and accepting varied cultures.
